This Privacy Policy explains how European Filmmaker ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit or buy from www.europeanfilmmaker.com (the "Site") and when you use our software, such as our DaVinci Resolve plugins.

This policy tells you what we do with your data. It isn't a contract you sign - it's here so you know exactly how your information is handled before you decide to use the Site or our software.

1. Who We Are

European Filmmaker is a solo-run digital store based in Lithuania, offering downloadable video tools for DaVinci Resolve: OFX plugins (Aftertone OFX, Asset Blaster Ultra, Loupe Blaster Ultra and Nailer OFX) and free Fusion effects (Asset Blaster Free, Loupe Blaster Free).

European Filmmaker is the trade name of Vitas Vaičiulis, an individual business registered in Lithuania, who is the data controller responsible for your personal data.

2. What We Collect

  • Name and email - when you contact us or make a purchase
  • Billing information - processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your payment details
  • IP address and usage data - through Squarespace and cookie-based analytics
  • Order and download history - so we can confirm delivery and help if something goes wrong
  • License data - when you buy a plugin, we create a license key linked to the email address used for the purchase and record it with your order number
  • Activation data (only for plugins that activate online) - see below

We don't collect or store passwords or usernames unless you create a Squarespace account, which is optional.

3. How Our Plugins Handle Your Data

Our plugins check licenses in one of two ways. The End User License Agreement of each plugin says which one it uses.

Offline license key (Asset Blaster Ultra, Loupe Blaster Ultra). The key is checked on your computer. The plugin does not contact our servers to check or activate it and sends us no data about you or your computer. The key contains the email address you bought it with and is stored in a small file on your computer, so you only enter it once.

Online activation (Aftertone OFX, Nailer OFX). When you activate or deactivate the plugin, it sends its license key and a machine code to our license server, which records them with the date. The machine code is a one-way hash of your computer's system identifier. It does not contain your name, your files or any other personal details, and it cannot be turned back into the original identifier. After activation the plugin works offline.

Check for Updates. When you press the Check for Updates button in a plugin, it asks our website whether a newer version exists and, if you agree, downloads it. Like any visit to a website, this request reaches our web host with your IP address. It contains no license key, email or other personal data.

Apart from the above, our plugins send nothing. They do not track how you use them, do not use cookies and never send your footage, projects or files anywhere.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • Process payments and deliver products
  • Issue and send license keys, and activate licenses where a plugin uses online activation, keeping each license within the number of computers it allows
  • Provide customer support, including re-sending lost keys and resetting activations if a computer is lost or replaced
  • Improve how the Site works
  • Prevent fraud and license misuse, and protect the Site
  • Send occasional emails about updates or new products, only if you opt in

We do not sell your data or share it with third-party advertisers. Ever.

5. Legal Basis

Under the GDPR, we process your data on these grounds:

  • To perform our contract with you - processing orders, delivering products, issuing and activating licenses, and support
  • To meet legal obligations - accounting and tax records
  • Our legitimate interests - keeping the Site secure, preventing fraud and license misuse, and understanding how the Site is used
  • Your consent - non-essential cookies and marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time

6. Cookies

We use cookies to understand how people use the Site and to keep it running smoothly. They may collect basic data such as your IP address, browser type and time spent on pages.

Non-essential cookies, including analytics, only run after you accept them through the cookie banner shown when you first visit. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time through the same banner, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Some parts of the Site may not work correctly if essential cookies are disabled.

Our plugins do not use cookies.

7. Sharing Your Information

We only share your data with trusted providers when it's needed to run the shop:

  • Stripe - to process payments
  • Squarespace - website hosting, order handling and plugin update downloads
  • Google Analytics / Squarespace Analytics - basic site statistics
  • Cloudflare - hosts our license services, which create license keys after a purchase and store license and activation data
  • Resend - sends license emails, such as your license key after a purchase

For Nailer OFX, which is made with a partner, the partner may receive the license and order data needed to support that product. We may also share data where the law requires it, or in response to a valid law enforcement request.

8. International Transfers

Some of these providers are based in, or process data in, the United States. Where your data leaves the European Economic Area, it is protected by the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Data Retention

We keep your personal information only as long as we need it:

  • To fulfil orders and provide support
  • To meet legal, accounting or reporting obligations, for as long as Lithuanian accounting and tax law requires
  • License and activation data - for as long as your license exists, so your purchase keeps working and your key can be re-sent or re-activated

If you ask us to delete your data, we'll do it, unless the law requires us to keep it. Deleting your license data means we can no longer re-send your key or reset an activation, and for plugins that activate online, it deactivates your license on all computers.

10. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you're in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Restrict or object to processing, or withdraw consent
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • File a complaint with a data protection authority in your country. In Lithuania, this is the State Data Protection Inspectorate (Valstybinė duomenų apsaugos inspekcija, vdai.lrv.lt)

11. Children's Privacy

This Site and our software aren't intended for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in how we work, or for legal reasons. The current version is always the one posted here, with the date at the top.
